Here are my final four paragraphs: In the late 1940s, the unemployment rate of black teenagers in America was lower than the unemployment rate of white teenagers. In the 1950s, the minimum wage began to rise steeply and, along with it, so did the unemployment rate of teens. But the unemployment rate of black teens rose much faster than did that of white teens. Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams and many other economists argue that the minimum wage is to blame. The arbitrarily higher wage creates a surplus of low-skilled workers; there are more people willing to work at the minimum wage than there are jobs at that wage. Because people are prohibited by law from competing for jobs by offering to work at wages lower than the minimum, employers have an overabundance of applicants for each entry-level job that needs to be filled. Employers thus tend over time to make “safe” hires — teens from prosperous suburbs with decent schools, rather than teens from the inner city with lousy schools. Today, the unemployment rate of white teens is 20.8 percent. That of black teens is 82 percent higher, at 37.8 percent. Do you think black teens’ much higher rate of unemployment today than that of whites is explained by racial discrimination? Is such discrimination worse today than it was in 1948? Or might a better explanation for the changing employment fortunes of black teens be that the minimum wage prices more black teens than white teens out of jobs?

A short time later in 1845, the term ‘manifest destiny’ was coined in a newspaper and further conquest for America was on. Lee by Ulysses S. Grant? Had Santa Ana and Lee both been executed, things would have been different in the American story. But American history is messy, sometimes marked by humanity, mostly by cruelty. Fast forward to 2013. The average welfare payment under our government’s food stamp program is over $220 a month per household. We two unsubsidized senior citizens for the same period, do not spent $100. Numbers don’t lie. Any American who says life has not improved over time is a an idiot, a fool or a liberal Democrat.

By John Fund The Obama administration is sparing no effort to scare people about the automatic spending cuts that are scheduled to hit this Friday. But the Obama administration doesn’t want to talk about its own devastating cuts in Medicare. On Friday, February 15, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced $716 billion in cuts over the next ten years. Instead of being put toward the debt, most of the money will go toward a new entitlement: Obamacare’s vast expansion of coverage for the uninsured. To add cynicism to injury, the Obama administration postponed the Medicare Advantage cuts until after the 2012 election, using a slush fund to tide the program over and conceal the true costs of Obamacare to seniors. Seniors are now going to confront a new chronic condition — politics. Unless it is changed, Obamacare will relentlessly restrict the choices seniors have by forcing them into traditional Medicare with all of its attendant contradictions, restrictions, and waste. Medicare Advantage has its problems, but they could be surgically addressed.

Depressing realities Obama has a dismal understanding of economics. Dismal comes from 2 roots, meaning ‘bad day,’ an unlucky day. The term ‘dismal science’ might come from the Scottish writer, essayist and historian Thomas Carlyle to describe the discipline of economics. The term dismal science was inspired by T. R. Malthus' gloomy prediction that population would always grow faster than food, dooming mankind to unending poverty and hardship. Those who doubt the story say Carlyle was reacting not to Malthus but economists such as John Stuart Mill who argued that institutions, not race, explained why some nations were rich and others poor. Parents riot at a local bittybasketball game; game cancelled. Where are the adults? Blacks weren’t starving ( for food or God) before the Civil Rights movement in the South. Today they are often overweight AND starve because their only healthy food - God- was gradually taken out of their culture. General George Patton, a seriously flawed but great man, can still be quoted for inspiration and good advice. “Genius is the immense capacity for taking pains. Always do more than is required of you. Death...is not the taps of death but first call to the reveille of eternal life. We live in deeds not years. You can be what you WILL to be.

As Easter approaches, I hear of another free meal being provided for the “homeless, disabled and underprivileged.” Now I know that a recent count of the homeless for 6 counties only turned up 6 homeless people who, by the way, self-reported. The disabled certainly tend to be overweight as opposed to starving. And, who by the word of God, are the underprivileged? No, I believe a free Easter meal from a local church organization is just an excuse for camaraderie among the brethren, a good meal and a feel-good, religious experience. Not bad you say? Not good if too many free meals do not reflect two truths - the absence of a hunger problem and the need to promote personal responsibility.

STANDING AGAINST OHIO CONSUMERS The fallacies and hint of cronyism in Sherrod Brown’s populist view of trade are the greatest reason to argue for limited government. Grasping government and politicians interfering in free trade can only be to the detriment of consumers. Do you really think they know what is best for you? Does standing up against China equal more jobs in manufacturing? Is Sherrod Brown’s loyalty to Ohio Manufacturers, Ohio Consumers or China? Most countries are organized to support Manufacturers/Sellers/Farmers/ politicians - the Establishment. In simple terms, the government protects, supports and defends the Establishment. Consumers get what the Establishment gives them and they are expected to be silent and thankful for their crumbs. Most economies in the world are designed to serve the establishment. I know because I deal with consumers on 2 other continents that are stunned by our consumer freedom; theirs is life of regulated choices and government set prices. The United States is one of the few consumer driven economies in the world. Remember those quaint sayings, “the customer is always right” and “the customer is king”? Those statements are actually true here and it drives the Establishment and politicians crazy. Consumers want low cost goods to make their lives enjoyable. If they buy something from China for $1.00 instead of $5.00 if it is manufactured here in America, consumers have an extra $4.00 to spend on what they personally want and American producers in turn will be encouraged to actually produce something that will get them that extra $4.00 burning a hole in the consumer’s pocket. The Establishment and politicians, however, would rather engage in cronyism and force the consumer to pay $5.00. Free Trade results in increased production and wealth in the U.S. that ends up in the hands of the consumer and not in the pockets of the power brokers. Oddly, being for restricted trade and high wages does not apply to all of Sherrod Brown’s ideas of fairness. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) said: “Interns in my Washington, D.C. office work on a wide range of projects ... but the young folks are on their own when it comes to expenses. ... internships in my Ohio and Washington, D.C. offices are unpaid. In addition, we are unable to reimburse you for parking and mileage.” So much for taking care of American ‘workers.’ P. J. O’Rourke famously quipped that “giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.” Rules against free trade will end up applying only to the LITTLE PEOPLE AND YOU THE CONSUMER ARE A LITTLE PERSON to the Establishment!

Silent Cal who actually spoke and wrote much, would be scandalized.

Failure to comply could get you up to a year in jail.

What’s a trillion?

The corruption of our language has muddied our thinking. The media uses a phrase like “non-lethal support” to mean no armed soldiers. Liberal Congressmen claim Republicans want to “strip” government spending. Let’s analyze the latter accusation. 110 billion a year over 10 years will equal about 1 trillion dollars that the Republicans want to cut or save or reduce or eliminate from the budget. Can we afford that? YES. Pres. Obama now spends approximately 1 trillion a YEAR. 110 billion (1/10 of a trillion) represents a small cut not an effort to STRIP government spending. But who knows this? Not the public which depends upon smoke and mirrors from the Obama media. By the way, I have the solution to our education problem, beginning with pre-school. Enroll each child into a convent for a year. This will make or break the soul of youth for the good, not for the evil intent of relativism and liberal indoctrination pervasive in our education system. The problem? Not enough convents with old, left-over nuns.

We’ll come to the particular “goal” he “issued” momentarily, but before we do, consider that formulation: Did you know the president of the United States is now in the business of “issuing goals” for his subjects to live up to? Strange how the monarchical urge persists even in a republic two-and-a-third centuries old.

Call me biased Damn, those Alinsky Progressive Democrats are good at capturing the language, misdirecting attention and falsifying reality. The new ‘amnesty bill’ proposed by Pres. Obama is called a “reform measure” The words “balanced approach” are continuously used to mean one-sided, dictatorial, liberal governance by this administration. I see this a bad. Call me biased. But don’t call me for my opinion on the new ‘cradle to grave’ agenda of our socialist state. From birth to pre-school, to grammar school, to college and higher education, to taxation for workers or amnesty for the poor, to retirement or entitlement, the goal is godlessness in a controlled, fair-share society. I see this as bad. Call me biased. Freedom only exists through discipline. If children in government approved, regulated day care cannot be disciplined at any stage of development except by being picked up as infants or directed to time-outs as they age ( or verbally counseled), discipline evaporates. It is replaced by ADD, ADHD, PTSD or anger management issues fogging up a child’s development. I see this freedom without discipline as bad. Call me biased.

THE ‘INACTION’ MOVIE THAT WILL NEVER BE MADE! ROGER SIMON: Benghazi: The Motion Picture. One story, however, cries out for cinematic dramatization — Benghazi. It is concise and highly dramatic. And mysteries abound – just where was the president of the United States that night our ambassador and others were under terror attack in North Africa? Why wasn’t Obama directly involved? Why did the secretary of State pay so little attention? Just what was our ambassador to Libya doing in Benghazi that night anyway? Why were the perpetrators allowed to escape? Why did the president lie for weeks about what transpired, trying to make a hopeless video nobody saw seem the cause of the event? And why were his lies covered up by CNN’s Candy Crowley? Why was no attempt made to save our people in the first place? (I could go on, but you get the drift.) Though I could guess (and the Daily Mail has some theories), I don’t know the definitive answer to any of these questions, but I do know one thing: If I did… if anybody did… know the truth, Benghazi would be one helluva movie. And a commercial one. But would anybody make it?

At least not with the police. Bonnie Jonas-Boggioni, 65, and her husband were driving home to Plano, Texas from Columbus after attending her mother-in-law’s funeral when a pair of black police SUV’s stopped the couple a few miles outside of Memphis. “Knowing I wasn’t speeding, I couldn’t imagine why,” Jonas-Boggioni told the Columbus Dispatch. “They were very serious. They had the body armor and the guns.” On the back of Jonas-Boggioni’s car was a Buckeye leaf decal, similar to the one players’ have on their helmets, and cops mistakenly thought it was marijuana leaf. Yes, really. “What are you doing with a marijuana sticker on your bumper?” one of the cops asked Jonas-Boggioni. After trying to explain that the sticker was not a marijuana leaf and that she and her husband were not trafficking drugs cross-country, the police advised Jonas-Boggioni to remove the sticker as to not cause any more confusion. You know, just in case there were any other moronic drug cops out there that didn’t actually know what a marijuana leaf looked like.

He didn’t talk to Leon Panetta, or any military personnel, or Hillary Clinton. What was he doing that night? We may never know; perhaps writing the speech that he gave at a campaign event the next day in Las Vegas. I think Ann Althouse hit the nail on the head in a post titled “Why did the White House deceive us after the Benghazi Attack?” She quotes Bill Kristol and Peter Wehner, concluding with this question: This is an embarrassment and a disgrace. Is it too much to hope that President Obama is privately ashamed of his inattention and passivity that night? This is Ann’s answer: I think he is ashamed. Here’s what I’ve been assuming happened: It looked like our people were overwhelmed and doomed, so there was shock, sadness, and acceptance. But then the fight went on for 7 or 8 hours. The White House folk decided there was nothing to do but accept the inevitable, and then they witnessed a valiant fight which they had done nothing to support. It was always too late to help. It was too late after one hour, then too late after 2 hours, then too late after 3 hours…. When were these people going to die already? After that was all over, how do you explain what you did? I, too, hope that Obama–and Hillary Clinton, also–have the decency to be ashamed of themselves.

If you think about it, no one else in the history of the world but Jesus said that he WAS GOD. Prophets and priests claim to record the word of God, to proclaim the word of God but not to be the one and only God, son of God and Spirit of God all in one! Your Bread, His Circus Yes, I kept notes during Pres. Obama’s State of the Union Speech. My comments follow. Obama accidentally read from his Totus the ONE AND ONLY TRUTH THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HIS ENTIRE SPEECH. Obama said that a man should not just conceive a child but he SHOULD HAVE THE COURAGE TO RAISE ONE. This great truth should be the mantra for resurrecting America from the deadly, moral culture in which we find ourselves. It has taken years for us to get so sick; it will not be easy to fight off the disease and recover. But this truth could be the basis of an agenda to save our great nation. Obama ( oh no he could not ) should have put this major premise, this basic principle at the heart of his address. Instead we have his media circus attended by worshipers who clapped for every lie and contradiction. They were thrown crumbs; their daily bread was at risk of being taken away by liberal government, but they were deliriously oblivious to any danger. The following is my list after 1 hr. of punishment and pain. All is contraction Total non-sequitur Boiler plate liberal politics Middle class fixation equal to ... Fixation of making rich pay their fair share. The State of our Union can only be improved when this is acknowledged as fact and put into your agenda.

Here’s Bruce’s conclusion: In today’s economy, regulation is found at every meaningful margin. Politicians set and rearrange prices for important services and products for consumers nationwide. They open and close market entry and give advantage to favored groups by altering taxes, depreciation schedules, and other regulatory schemes. Doing all this in the full light of day and with full and open debate would be a challenge. But then there are crises to serve the politicians’ interests. Some arise spontaneously and some are created or magnified consciously by the politicians themselves. The sequestration element in the fiscal cliff story is an example. The shouts of crisis and the end of western civilization that preceded TARP are another. In all cases, Rahm’s Rule applies: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

False principles Question: Why was a Catholic principal fired for advocating gay marriage at his school? Why did he call for more Catholic “compassion” regarding gays ( homosexuala and lesbians)? Answer: Lack of principle. The principal rejected the principle of Catholicism that homosexuality is unnatural and thus in violation of both natural and God’s law. Having printed examples of the butchery of the English language yesterday, here’s an example from a Reverend Gleason asking for a “generous tide”of benevolence after a flood in Skinnerville, Massachusetts, 1874. “Let it rise to Skinnersville, and there... find something higher. As the tall corn ships entering the harbor of ancient Rhodes sailed beneath the colossal statue that bestrode the harbor, so must this benevolence flow through the desolated field discovered by the large heart of William Skinner. If but a moiety of the wealth which has for many years flowed through the channels of piety to our churches, colleges, and schools, should return, like ‘bread cast upon the waters,’ to the generous givers, the valley would again be made glad, and the prayer go up from every home, ‘God bless the donors!’” For hundreds of years, Christians believed that natural disasters were punishments to sinners from an angry God. Then the Great Awakening said that our Father is merciful and wants only the best for his children, but man is still solely responsible for natural calamities because of his ignorance or neglect. From God to Man to whom today? Government? Without eloquent language to enunciate it who now responsible for disasters? Without God and without personal responsibility in Men, who (or what) rules the roost?

“ACCEPTED WASTE”

“ACCEPTED WASTE” “Accepted waste,” is an accurate definition of government coined by Brian McLaughlin. All government is involved in taking wealth from some Americans and redeploying or redistributing it to others (citizens or not) chosen by politicians and bureaucrats, ostensibly for the public good. What government takes is wasted forever. Sometimes government even performs a necessary service to the community ( but always inefficiently). We would like to believe that politicians and bureaucrats are altruistic, dedicated and selfless public servants who would never take into consideration political affiliation, be self-servicing or bow to lobbying or cronyism. Reality flies in the face of this concept and sticky things called facts back it up. Every thinking American knows the pettiness, corruption, and grasping that is the hallmark of government at every level. Yet, liberals, progressive politicians, and bureaucrats continually tell us that ‘this time it will be different’ when they want a new levy, investment or tax - if only people will give them a little more of the treasure they produce. Long ago, in 1867, Englishman, Sir Louis Mallet’s rightly observed the poor role of government when he said: “... we add to these considerations the singular inaptitude of the governing classes of this country to comprehend foreign affairs, the extraordinary errors which are usually to be observed in their judgements and opinions ....” Mark the words “inaptitude” and “errors ... (of) judgement” and think of the heavy corrupt hand of government coming in ObamaCare. Yes, I know liberals and progressives assure us this time it will be different. In modern days, Robert Heinlein, an American writer and thinker notes: “Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded - here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as ‘bad luck.’" But today, Pres. Obama assures workers and creators that “you didn’t build that.” In his Second Inaugural Address he assured us that only the collective and not the individual is the road to success. The collective and its handmaiden government trump personhood and freewill. Denials not withstanding, the goal of the Obama administration is to make us a nation of takers and not makers. About 46 million people get government help in the form of food stamps. That's roughly 15 percent of the population and a 50% increase from just a few years ago. In Fayette County, I see it proudly proclaimed that 50% of our students are on the government school food program. What happened to the bowl of Wheaties for breakfast and a baloney sandwich for lunch? Oh, and the apple. Surely Fayette County parents, you can do better than just turning your kids over to the government? Caring government is not the solution because if you allow them to care, you show that you do not care enough to assume personal responsibility. Don’t you see the very contradiction between the words caring and government? “Accepted waste” means government programs must always grow. How long before it is proposed that we bus the parents to school so they can also have a free government-sponsored breakfast and lunch? Are the parents no less hungry than the children? Will government eventually bring in Fido and Fluffy in for a nutritious, well-balanced pet breakfast and lunch? Then we can all sing, “ Oh, Happy Day” to the collective. From utopian communities of the 19th century to the Soviet Union and now European socialism, the history of the collective has been failure after failure. Is Obama’s goal to allow America to slip back into abject poverty so as to prove once again the inaptitude of the collective and government? Many times incompetence of governance becomes a source of pride for its liberal or progressives supporters. For example, Nancy Ward, Administrator at FEMA, recently justified FEMA’s incompetence by saying, “It doesn’t always work out the way we intended but we never stop trying.” Isn’t one of the definitions of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? That which is surrendered to government is lost forever to the citizens and producers of wealth. “There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him,” says Robert Heinlein. The continual sucking of initiative, wealth and property from the individual and turning it over to self-serving politicians and faceless bureaucrats will only end in the collapse of democracy and individual freedom. What can we do to reject the “accepted waste” of government? To simply say “NO” as Nancy Reagan suggested to drugs is simply not enough. “YES” to a tad more personal responsibility might be in order.

Awesome in 1927 What can we learn from the following info found in the history of the B&O railroad? Government control of the railroad (industry) lasted through 1920 and had a damaging effect in many ways. Right-of-ways and rolling stock deteriorated, due to the government’s low-maintenance policies, and expenses were allowed to mount until they exceeded income. These problems could be overcome - but the maturing century would present, time and again, such difficulty for the nation’s railroads that the circumstances of the second decade would be a bad omen for many. Yet, September, 1927 opened the grand celebration of the 100th birthday of the B&O railroad called the Fair of the Iron Horse held in Baltimore, MD. Check it out for incredible pageantry and displays After WWII the US and British railroads, with one Canadian line, were now the only major rail systems in the world not government-owned or controlled at the war’s end. Further, Britain’s railroads soon were to be socialized, leaving only the railroads of North America under private ownership and operation. In 1970, the government created the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, aka ‘Amtrak’ (which) ... would be federally run ( as a perennial money loser). In spite of daunting difficulties, B&O and the railroads were built and eventually cris-crossed this nation in spite of setbacks from depressions, recessions, wars and governmental interference. We can learn that government is an inefficient evil; private enterprise in spite of incredible obstacles continuously re-invents itself and moves forward.

The story is that on 9/11 during an attack on Americans in Benghazi (including a person he knew personally) the President of the United States was disinterested. • BY DANIEL HALPER WASHINGTON EXAMINER 2/8/2013 Defense Secretary Leon Panetta testified this morning on Capitol Hill that President Barack Obama was absent the night four Americans were murdered in Benghazi on September 11, 2012: ...The 5 o'clock meeting was a pre-scheduled 30-minute session, where, according to Panetta's recollection, they spent about 20 minutes talking a lot about the American embassy that was surrounded in Egypt and the situation that was just unfolding in Benghazi. ...Panetta said, though he did meet with Obama at a 5 o'clock prescheduled gathering, the president left operational details, including knowledge of what resources were available to help the Americans under siege, "up to us." In fact, Panetta says that the night of 9/11, he did not communicate with a single person at the White House. The attack resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Obama did not call or communicate in anyway with the defense secretary that night. There were no calls about what was going on in Benghazi. He never called to check-in.

For sure we are not a ignorance and arrogance as a Britain in the past. For example, Joseph Chamberlain when asked at 63, to explain his vigor marrying a 23 yr old American girl, said: “ No exercise and smoke all day.” Don’t we hope! For sure we are not as British as described by a Boer in the past. “ ... a decaying race with its children born weak, diseased, and deformed, that the major proportion of the British people consisted of females, cripples, epileptics, consumptives, cancerous people and lunatics of all kinds, who are carefully nourished and preserved.” A bit over the top, yet our media constantly tells us about poverty and unhealthy conditions in America today. Don’t we hope! For sure we are not as corrupt as Britain with its Army and Navy Stores at the turn of the last century. “The stores themselves were almost clubs. Members were usually recognized by name by the sales staff and doormen, and there were writing and reading rooms where members often arranged to meet. The stores had their own factories to produce groceries, confectionaries, cigars, shirts, watches, guns gold clubs, perfume. They offered all kinds of special services, from home repairs decoration, and removals to auction rooms and catering. They boiled and shipped their own wine, and their catalogue included everything from elephant’s feet ( made into liqueur sets) to big game trophy-stuffing. A catalogue of 1907 offered fifty-six different designs of bedroom-toilet services, as well as ‘sculpture by corsetry’ that promised a swan silhouette. There were also leather dress protectors for hems which swept the pavements. And there were two whole pages on dinner gongs. The store also had a listing of entertainers for hire for parties, from Mystery Men in Native Costume to a White Viennese Bank. The catering department offered everything from a wedding breakfast to a thirteen-course dinner. We know the British Empire fell. Dare we hope Americans can rise again and save America by adapting itself themselves?

Yes, Winston wanted to praise and express gratitude to our country. Yes, he was an optimist who believed in carrying a big stick, but that was then and now is NOW. Without Congressional or Constitutional explanation or authorization, Pres. Obama SAYS he will kill with drone strikes any American on foreign soil deemed a threat to the United States. When will this evil self-correct? Have we lost our democratic tolerance? I think about the Tea Party being demonized and marginalized. Have we not lost many of our freedoms under this liberal, Obama administration? How long until we self-correct or still possess the ability to self-correct?

F word

F word “Fucking awesome!” Joe Flacco validates himself with a Super Bowl MVP award. I tried trash talking like a true American football hero but my husband tried to wash my mouth out with soap. I tried to say, “f...... pathetic,” is the state of our culture today. I screamed, “f...... pathetic” that Sandy Hook children sang at the Super Bowl at taxpayers’ expense as a political play to drive a stake deeper into the heart of gun ownership. I say “f...... pathetic” that true American heroes like Chris Kyle die but rich, “f......” steroid-driven, crude and fowl-mouthed 1%er’ in the sports arena - gladiators right out of the Roman coliseum tradition - live like pantheon gods. I also say, however, that it is “f......” great that real animals can’t “f...” up. A Clydesdale from foal to front leader on a Budweiser wagon can’t speak English - foul or fair but since nature never makes a mistake, God’s grandeur and beauty shine forth. I say let’s name the newbie foal “Fawsome” for “F...... awesome.”

Insanity, all is insanity Did you know 3rd graders can ‘learn’ by creating a putt-putt course out of recycled materials? “We use the building as a teaching tool,” according to a teacher. Is your school ‘green’ according to the U.S. Green Building Council? Did you know that for Ohio football players at the Super Bowl, I quote: “ The lesson they have is amazing?” Did you know that patriot sniper, Chris Kyle was shot dead? Did you know that “shot,” “ shot,” “ shot” is a word now included in EVERY news report? Did you know the 11 yr. old who supposedly was bullied ( who hung herself) was not bullied but that she put hooks and hanging devices into her room even though she supposedly was under parental supervision? Insanity, all is insanity in this country and so, so depressing too.

“ACCEPTED WASTE” “Accepted waste,” a definition of government by Brian McLaughlin is probably the most accurate definition of government. Consider, all government is involved in taking wealth from the citizenry and ‘redeploying’, or redistributing the wealth to others. Sometimes, government performs a necessary service to the community ( inefficiently, of course). Theoretically, government is populated by altruistic, dedicated and selfless public servants who would never take into consideration politics, self-serving, lobbying or greedy redistribution of wealth seized from the populace through taxation. All realities and facts fly in the face of this concept; everyman knows the pettiness, corruption, and grasping that is the hallmark of government at every level. Yet, in every age we have liberals, progressives, politicians, and bureaucrats tell us that ‘this time it will be different’ if only we will give them a little more of the treasure produced by the people. Long ago, in 1867, Sir Louis Mallet’s rightly observed: “... we add to these considerations the singular inaptitude of the governing classes of this country to comprehend foreign affairs, the extraordinary errors which are usually to be observed in their judgements and opinions ....” Mark those words “inaptitude” and “errors ... (of) judgement” and think of the heavy corrupt hand of government coming in ObamaCare. Yes, I know liberals and progressives assure us this time it will be different. In modern days, Robert Heinlein notes: “Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded - here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as ‘bad luck.’" But in our day, Pres. Obama assure us, the workers and creators, that “you didn’t build that.” In his Second Inaugural Address he assures us that only the collective and not the individual is the road to success. The collective and its handmaiden government trump personhood and freewill. From utopian communities, to the Soviet Union and now in European Socialism, the history of the collective has been failure and more failure. Is America to slip back into abject poverty to prove once again the inaptitude of the collective and government? Many times incompetence of governance becomes a source of pride. Nancy Ward, Administrator at FEMA, recently justified FEMA’s incompetence by saying “It doesn’t always work out the way we intended; but we never stop trying.” Isn’t one of the definitions of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? That which is surrendered to government is lost forever to the citizens, the producers of wealth. “There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him,” says Robert Heinlein. What can we do to not accept the waste? Shouldn’t we be persons and not slaves to the collective? “Accepted Waste” is the true definition of government which we must protest at all times.
