Muirfield

If Leary says, "Turn on, tune in, drop out,"I say, "tune out, drop out and turn off," all coverage this   this weekend of Muirfield mania around its golf classic in Columbus, Ohio.  Also, the summer feeding frenzy program begins because one in 4 children suffer from "food insecurity." Again, tune out,  drop out and turn off nanny on the radio.  Only one clarification is necessary.  Golf  IS golf.  But "food insecurity" is defined as blah, blah, and "no access to healthy food."   Wave the leftist flag as you sink its misshapen ball of  nonsense into the cup for a celebratory hole in one.  I can't stand what's happening to our once self-sufficient parenting tradition   in America.

6 in 10

"...It is by the female world, that the greatest and best characters among men have formed.  I have long been of this opinion to such a degree, that when I hear of an extraordinary man, good or bad, I naturally inquire who was his mother."  This quote from John Adams ( check him out) says 'it' all about the condition of our present, debased ( in many cases) culture of improper prior parenting.

6 in 10 refers to Martha Jefferson (wife of Thomas, check him out) who in 10 years birthed 6 kids three of whom died and upon the last birth died within a few months followed in a few more months by the last 6th child, a boy.  Would these founding mothers have relinquished their motherly roles?  Well...

The Big Blue Bus makes it way around Fayette County this summer providing free meals and free books to children under 18 BECAUSE 1 in 6 are hungry, 60% qualify for free lunch at school and 70 are homeless.  Now I ask, what mothers have led their men ( and women) to fall and/or participate in this nanny nonsense which per se, denies reality, abhors personal responsibility and makes a mockery of charity.  Man up people.

Massage the drug

Massage therapy for opioid addicts - what think you?  This new option is floating radio airways' ads. It won't work, of course.  DNA analysis is also a new fad, but it obviously has faded quickly with consumers because the radio airways'  ad now claims it is an "ancestry and health" analysis when you pay "23 and me."   Even overestimating the stupidity of the average person,  I'll bet on a normal to get it right with either discretionary cash or government funding.  Take "extra-corporeal  low intensity shock wave therapy for ED".  If ineffective, this too will pass. BUT not this, a Mid-Ohio Foodbank solicitation.  $40 from me would provide $400 worth of groceries for June, because " NO SCHOOL MEANS NO LUNCH."  Please somebody, read my blog and get your dose of depressing (and insane) news each day.  I promise to include an upbea bit of news.

No, not the news of a 13 yr old killing a 14 yr old in Columbus.
Yes, the fact I have 3  real men as sons.

Score 350-9

What a city!  Nine klansmen confronted by 350 protesters to the cost of almost $750,000 in Dayton, Ohio where if nothing had been done for the KKK rally,  taxpayers would have been spared a great expense and the whole 'thing' would have just blown over.

I heard today that "they take a lot of burden," from some sports report.  I'm annoyed as usual.

My definition of income equality involves equating brains with wealth.  Today we hear about a notorious case of another druggie hiding coke in his mouth and in his butt which contrasts with Indian children busily preparing for the National Spelling Bee.  Yes, both lifestyles identify modern  American culture.  Yes, we should recognize this intelligence income equality.

When we could write...

From the WSJ, note General Order No.11 from Gen. John A. Logan establishing Memorial Day, May 5, 1868.  "What can aid more to assure this result than by cherishing tenderly the memory of our heroic dead who made their breasts a barricade between our country and its foes?  Their soldier lives were the reveille of freedom to a race in chains and their deaths the tattoo of rebellious tyranny in arms."  Perhaps you need to look up in the dictionary the older meaning of tattoo no, it doesn't go on a body). Surely you will eat your heart out when you hear an ad on the radio saying you "save $5.00 off hydrangeas,"  using poor grammar, making no sense and disgracing a once-polished usage of our English language.

Well-kept cemeteries are living reminders that we humans still remember our dead. Semper Fi!

Memorial equals memory

Memorial Day, dummies, is about memory.  Duh! Heard again about buying a veteran dinner this Memorial Day because it's all about him.  No, No, No. We have Veterans Day for honoring veterans. Memorial Day commemorates those who died (had their lives taken from them) in one of our wars.  Heard  too to "be extra attention" from a female, breathless copy reader scolding drivers to buckle up and don't drink or drive distracted.   Sobriety checkpoints will be 'manned' this weekend to GET YOU.  Oh please, deliver me from depression over reality in today's lost generation of Americans.

I saw students and teachers in Boston putting thousands of flags on graves of veterans for this Memorial Day commemoration.   Question?  How man were killed in action?

Who is...?

Greta Thunberg, who is she?  I must be "living under a rock" (gladly) to not have heard of the world-wide notoriety of this poor, pig-tailed indoctrinated 16 year old child.  I do hear (reluctantly), a spokesperson rapidly telling me  "What we're out there do..." this weekend to nanny you drivers to distraction.

Warning, warning, Memorial Day is to remember the DEAD, not veterans, not 1st responders,   not police, etc. I definitely will wallow in war time sorrow.

What a Drag

Libraries sponsor Drag Queen readings for children. NPR calls a fetal heart beat a "flickering pulse." Our Governor DeWine wants a "holistic approach" to attracting moviemakers to Ohio.  Words, phrases speak, yes, but actions also speak louder than words.  What's my solution?

1. Close all the public schools. 2. Pray for all the lawyers. 3. Pray for DeWine.

Now as a sad aside.  At our 2 local high schools, a few students protested in front of the Courthouse, against the recent strong anti-abortion laws passed  in various states.  Only one pro-life, suit-clad student bravely represented the opposition. The name of the girl- libber student is Haiven Pepper.  Her mother's name (also mentioned in the local newspaper article) is Dreama Brown.  Please NOTE:  stupid first names and not the same last name for student and mother.  Tells you all  you need to know.  What you don't know? Think about it.

4. Pray for all wrong-minded parents.

More nonsense

Advertising nonsense twice over.  A car dealership says with them you can "experience the future of car buying."  Would I, can I, experience my future?  NO.  With proper dentures the spokesperson for a dental business says he wants his clients to be able to "enjoy the nutrition in their foods." Doesn't ingestion of food stuffs automatically get you the benefits of nutrition? YES.

I not only must deny the existence of middle school graduations ( really), but also accept the denial  of truth in any commercial advertisement.

What's my reaction to Elizabeth Warren and Ocasio-Cortes discussing the finale of "Game of Thrones"?   The finale of "Dallas" was probably more exciting had I watched it.

Laugh in

Remember  "Laugh In" a TV show from the past?  Thirty attorneys general have sponsored a bill to provide massage therapy for opoiod addiction.  Who will pay for this?  Give me a break!  Laugh in your coffee.  Chuckle in your cup. Roll in the aisles.  Anyway you express your laughter, it will not be enough to mitigate the pain of today's leftist nonsense.  Where's common sense?  At the bottom of that coffee or tea cup as dregs. Assuredly.

Also, this AM, I heard that some local high school students put bodily fluids into food made in cooking class - for a 'joke.'  And... other students called in a phony alarm to get out of school.  CLOSE ALL THE SCHOOLS.  Open private institutions of learning, train teachers to wield a stick and dress in black like traditional, volunteer teaching nuns. That's a winning combination.

She's worth it

Who could command 5 dozen roses in her honor?  The Mother of God, of course, Mary the Mediatrix of all graces. Not a Catholic?  Don't worry, I just wanted to make the point that 5 dozen of beautiful,  red roses graced her altar in our local parish church.

A more mundane matter presented itself last night (again) when we found another (2nd) mouse head on the rug. Spat up by our hunter cat. Yuck!

Even our Governor has joined the chorus of curtailing vaping, the epidemic of our youth.  Raise the age to vape to 21. That's not enough, of course, it needs to be banned altogether because it's the greatest invention since sliced bread to reduce the dangers of smoking a tobacco product. Am I the  only one the see through the haze of nanny politics? NO - my better half agrees.

The sun, the sun

Two days in a row - sun - no rain. Unbelievable. No end, however, to leftist language betraying America's slow sloughing into gomorrhea. We now have an "adversity score" for ACT test takers. We now have an "office of institutional equity" at OSU.  Can you send me other 'improvements' to our culture? Don't bother with social media, films, theatre, TV or cable presentations.  They are already 'gone.'

As of "The Gremlins," my movie fare has been blank.

Chive bouquet

'All things come to him (her) who waits.'  Too expensive for roses at Mother's day so I picked a nice chive bouquet for my table.  Then almost a week later, the dozen reds discounted at my local Kroger store were only $2.00 a dozen.  Wow!  Paid off again with patience.  No way did it occur to me to buy 2 dozen for $4.00.  No way...

I must take possession of the "whackhead" label from hubby because never-ending nightmares with wild and unbelievable details carry on unabated.   Whackhead also fits every Democrat candidate for President. DeBlasio said he will "put working people 1st."  Hasn't Trump proved working people ARE 1st with lowest unemployment and highest job market?

Can't pass up another stupidity from an ad, this for a restaurant. It offers a chicken salad "ready to help you soak up the sun."  Another example, a hospital says it carefully selects a heart before your heart replacement procedure? Duh!

No discipline

Why is it that the negative proliferates the news for me each day that I must search under the bushel to find some light in this culture?  A female graduate at local high school will wear a bar code on her cap that links the viewer to a site showing all the shootings at schools for the past 20 years beginning with Columbine.  She's such a caring, activist, right?  No,  she and virtually every youth today wallows so deep in self-indulgence that no light of self-discipline can emerge.

Somebody had to stand up and 'call the game' on China. Right? Wrong.

What's lost?

What's lost more so than ever before in America?  Personal responsibility - or at most its inculcation into individual character.  Always an excuse must be found for failings or tragic endings. The Monsanto award of 2 billion dollars to a couple who obviously 'abused' the insecticide over the years just frosts me.  No personal responsibility on their part.  Billions of punishment for Monsanto.

What else frosts me? The doors of the cruiser of 2 local police killed in the line of duty last year, enshrined at their memorial.  The DOORS ? of their cruiser? Bows and ribbons flown in their memory? Do these silly feel-goodies relate in any way to lack of personal responsibility?  I'll make the connection some how if it 'kills me.'

Best ever

Best Mother's Day ever. Some advantages to getting really older! Right?  Reckless is my present of a skeleton of a life-size talking pony.  She's accompanied by a life-size fetal pig which also lights up. Also a bird feeder and a 10 point buck head...

In a world gone mad with lies and  contradictions  what else could I expect than  truly perfect gifts?  Thanks loving children...  A financial planner said there is "only a "small frame of time for working left." No, there's not; we are free agents.  A commercial from a garden center called for buying mother a 'mandeville' plant.  No there's only a mandevilla plant; doesn't a spokesperson know that?  Two thirds of Americans don't have $400 for an emergency.  No that's not true; another expert says  people over 65 have an average net worth of 1 million dollars and other experts show that 2/3 of baby boomers have an emergency savings nest egg.  Blue ribbons and bows  fly in memory of police officers killed in the line of duty.  No, God would not deign to authorize these types of memorials because He is about the end times.  Daily lies and contradictions should make us more thoughtful.

Finally, try this contradiction.  "I'm not for choice at the beginning of life (for abortion) but I'm for choice at the end of life (for euthanasia). ??   So says Glenn Beck

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

HAPPY to be alive for another Mother's Day so... be happy for yourself this Mother's Day. If you are not a mother, mind these wise words anyway from Dennis Prager referencing the Bible: Honor your mother and father even if you do NOT love them.  The Bible tells you so... Honor means respect because at 'least' or 'most' they chose you.  Unlike Scott Adams who does not believe in free will, they DID choose you.

To the nonsense points of the day.  It costs $56.00 per person to attend Cedar Point Recreation Park. That would have been almost $500. for our group to attend today.  You guess it, our group didn't  even  patronize it years ago.

Lovely flowers are ubiquitous. A huge spray of roses graced the altar of Mary who was - as tradition- crowned on May's Mother's Day. Lovely flowers speak to customers at every box store and greenhouse. Lovely flowers bloom still in this spring, from bleeding hearts to iris and weigela bush.                     Hail to our lovely lady dressed in blue!

MFDVE

A politically-correct ad boosted its company as a "male, female, disabled, veterans employer." Really?  This is the state of our union today. Another symptom of the time is an Uber yet to make a profit valued at billions of dollars, launching an IPO that investors support.  Really?  Really, what's real now is so unreal as to be unrecognizable.  Furthermore, what parenting accounts for the young mass killers in our society?  Cultural rot or rotten parenting? There should be no case of a child off to school who does not return home due to his or her inexcusable murder. Mental illness is not the cause my friend. Seriously consider the meaning of the word cause.

Swallows

Swallows return every year on time to build nests. poop on my porch an to begin each day with cheeps, chitters and chatters, flying, swooping and typically swallowing through each happy day ending each evening paired up sitting on the electrical wires.  Good night. Babies are fledged who  rarely fall from the nest pasted onto a wood plank. Good grief, cleaning up after them is a chore. Winter peace until another year of evolutionary wonder dawns.

A three fer

Pouring my coffee this AM I encountered a three fer on my counter - a live tick, a tiny, live beetle and a dead bee. Show and tell to my husband and on to breakfast, after which I took a trip to my front porch, noted the bloom, and summoned the man again to see the 40 foot profusion of white, blooming spirea. What a typical morning! No really.  I forgot to put shredded potatoes into water overnight and we ate black hash browns with eggs.

All imperfections, however, fare better than the politics of any day which has devolved into insanity and insults to common sense and morality. Glenn Beck interviewed a woman who began a movement fed up with the depravity of today's culture.  100% correct in her assessment, she motor-mouthed ( my turn-off)  her way through every evil and deviation from decency in our society. You go girl, driven by your passion. How else will we take back our country?

Conscience of a conservative

We passed the test for a conservative when we saw hazelnut coffee creamer which could have been used as an option to regular coffee creamer we use all the time to make 'milk.' But in unison, we (2 conservatives) never considered buying both creamers. First, hazelnut couldn't substitute for milk in recipies and second, buying two would cost more than one. The conscience of a conservative pricks one ( or two) to no extravagance or overspending.  After I think about this,  next week I might go whole hog and splurge.

Finishing  a lecture course about what Darwin didn't know, I would like to add to his ignorance this observation.  Bee swarms thwart sustainability.  If the hive must first perpetuate itself, why do they lose 1/2 of their workers following a queen to a new home?  Beats me! Spring is swarm season and sustainability is still the goal, like it or not.

Life is lovely

Life is lovely when you color its picture in a 'Happy Thoughts' coloring book.  Life is lovely when your son thinks to buy you a pond pump for $5.00 at a yard sale ( and it works!) Life is lovely when you can afford to buy your own Mother's Day present of a lovely wisteria shrub at Wal-Mart.  Life is lovely if you ignore your backache. Life was lovely until you saw the Kentucky Derby winner disqualified for a foul and the long shot advanced to the winner's circle. Life is lovely when your chap stick only costs $.50 and not $5.00 in Australia. Life is lovely if you can ignore the insanity of leftism lying and nannying you every day. Life is lovely if  you can remember you live in America.   Life is lovely when you know you're loved.

What say to to loveliness?
