Another day

Another day with Covid -19. Wake up with headache, fever, ennui take 2 aspirin to feel better. Turn off the news and/or any words from our Governor. Take in an on-line Sunday Mass. Listen to the howling wind even though warm. Watch bees struggle to find the nectar on our blooming plum tree - the 1st year it has ever bloomed after about 7 years. Who knew? Time flies when we are having so many failures. My daughter is concerned about me but she should REALLY find a belief in prayer.

Malaria - like

Repeated bouts of fever, terrible headache, nausea, sour throat, malaise and more --I conclude the coronavirus has many permutations of which I have severalp!  If I hear one more time that we are all in this together I'll stop listing to the news ( oh I've already done that) because NO each person is in it alone. In bodily combat. More rain, depressing. Every neighbor has been on the riding mower. Spring has spring. The unending passion to mow and mow has begun - except for us 2 luddities. Bored with it  all.

Top this

Just when I didn't know what could top my list of insanities I read that capital punishments will be delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. You can't top this for insanity because they !  are going to die anyway. You could demand that an order should be issued for the demise of Nancy Pelosi via an exorcism - tantamount to capital punishment - because of her shameless, diabolical political posturing. What could have led a young mother of 5 down a path of evil? Beats me.

Me too

I never miss anything - my motto late in life. So fever, headache, chills, tired, yep me too with the Covid -19. Since I've never traveled or left home other than to shop but 4 local stores, draw your conclusion that the virus is everywhere. The world is flat.  One self-centered person I know just focused on his concern today; another rambled on about the current subject without asking how the old people were doing. Business as usual. Contrast my depression with the daffodils in all their spring glory blooming everywhere on our property.  Chain saws buzz, fires roar, a mower mows (yes) and my head is burning. Oh well. My guardian angel will need to work overtime

Restricted

Time for a quote from Billy Graham: " The smallest package in the world is a man (or woman ) all wrapped up in himself."  Can you think of any examples? Every day now starts with a DeWine or a Congressional Democrat or yes even Trump at times full of self-aggrandizement.  Every person is filled with something besides the divine spark but you wouldn't know it from the lack of light being cast about Americans now.  The biggest downer in the smallest package , Glenn Beck, takes a listener deep into depressing, negativity each day on his radio program. Contending for 2nd place is our Congress hell bent on spending America into where do you think? Cry beloved country! For 3rd place you could suggest Joe Biden but his package is so small as to be non-existent.  Churches on line, can they lift enough people out of the dark?

Home for 44 years

Stay home? We've been home for 44 years, like a Mennonite or Amish farmer, no vacations, daily workloads, local shopping exclusively, preparing and consuming all meals at home. No guns but the neighbors are prepared. No hoarding but fiscally abstemious meals.  Now to external insanities. Bashing our President. Hatred from Democrats everywhere. Stupid statement from media like "maintain social distancing in your CAR." I've realized we can have it both ways, both ways like don't go out but if  you go out shop locally and order take-out. You can't win. What more can we do? Die! Solve the left's problem with us. Just die. Government now is still the problem not the solution. What are they doing do the economy? Glenn Beck should just put duct tape on his mouth which runs and run and runs on with panic mongering. Back to my 360 degree display of yellow daffodils.

Nothing new

Traffic at the local dollar and grocery store. Traffic as usual on the country lane where we reside. Traffic on the computer to attend a Sunday Mass online. Traffic in the night for the welfare creatures' dishes of food. What's new? When you go nowhere but local and travel only vicariously by video, nothing much is new. Our incredible display of daffodils surrounding us 360 degrees is also not new, just the wonderful  sign of another spring.

Moroni

No the news of the day is not more coronavirus, it is  the fall of Moroni's trumpet in the earthquake in Utah a few days ago. What does this really mean?  Everything else news wise is a side show. We are in a new way of living. We are part of the process. Come on! Did you know Frisch's Big Boy now sells toilet paper, milk and bread?  Did you know that LED firearms business had its best day ever on  March 15th and sales were up 60% the day after too? Did you know that Thoreau said he liked the motto: " That government is best which governs least." Whatever you know, throw it away like the earth's vibration did to Moroni's trumpet on the crown of the Mormon temple. Something new is on the horizon...

Conscience

"Lookout to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire, called conscience." George Washington

Beauty

"The passionate tenacity of hunters, woodmen, early risers, cultivators of gardens and orchards and fields, the love of healthy women for the manly form, seafaring persons, drivers of horses, the passion for light and the open air, all is an old varied sign of the unfailing perception of beauty, and of a residence of a poetic in outdoor people."  Walt Whitman - who ought to know...

No conscience

Need an example of the unconscionable? This AM 610 AM radio aired a plumber saying he's worried Americans could clog up their toilets because of the shortage of toilet paper by using substitute products. Give me a break! This is unconscionable.  Gas may be 99 cents, that's good free market.  Workers on the front line work literally and metaphorically. That's bad grammar. But saying that clogging up toilets is a possibility?  That's such panic mongering as to be unconscionable.

hard or soft

If you keep pounding a person on the head, will it just get soft or will it crack?  That's the question regarding the now  constant pounding on the coronavirus pandemic. Until the owl (wise) of Minerva folds her wings we won't know if it is a pandemic, a panic, a virus or a major problem. We also won't know if whatever the 'authorities' have done really stemmed the flow of the cases around the world. Meanwhile, yes, there was NO toilet paper at Dollar General. I don't believe it! Daffodils (narcissus) keep coming on 360 degrees. Nature oblivious of man.

NO TP (TOILET PAPER)

Zero down and zero per day - we went to DG and NO TP (TOILET PAPER)left on the shelves. Believe it or not! We splurged with Fabreeze two for $5.00 and not cheap room freshener. Also licorice. 2 bottled waters, a cat box powder and a pistachio chocolate bar... What's with stealing TP from public washrooms?  The barbarians are at the gates! Now to the serious problem of Animal Farm? Why have we not shut down Congress where hundreds of old codgers and  codgeresses congregate in the Senate and House. We common people are forbidden to congregate in aggregates of more than 10!!!!i  Why is Congress still in session? Some people are more equal than others. Tom's sugar still up; just my dander.  Love mom . Recycled lots of obsolete records.

Await swarms

Well, Columbus Ohio all geared up for Breakfast and Lunch for any child under 18. Yeah. Who will prepare their food, how many people will associate?  Who will weep for the death of parenting? Just asking. Our esteemed Governor as instituted the "establishment-closure measure" to close down restaurants for a couple weeks. Yeah.  Our local humane society agent rushed to the Japanese sushi buffet last night (before it was forced to close at 9 PM). A local Roosters also filled to capacity yesterday before the same shutdown,   Yeah. Then I heard an ad for "rough greens vita smart" supplement for dog food because regular products are inadequate (after years of research and development, may I remind you). Yeah. Try this appropriate quote: What can be said in defense of a ruler who is at once indifferent and intolerant? Think of the Big Obama. Yeah. Too bad your insanity is in question like mine, but we (he and I) look forward to something - spring swarms.

march madnes

March madness on the Ides, today the 15. Went shopping as usual, calmly without a long list or anxiety, until I beheld the Wal-Mart parting lot full and the Aldi parking lot full.We have never seen these two things simultaneously before.  Naivete dropped me into disbelief that it could be because of the Covid-19 panic. Wrong oh might one. All items limited to 2 except for canned goods at 4. Shelves deleted in some places. I made a purchase of 4 pizzas for a woman holding a skating party for which she thanked me kindly. We were able to buy only 2 bottled waters which disappointed Tom. But he did buy his Herring, throwing caution to the wind. Then I was rewarded with 2 quarters left in the cart boxes. What a time. Join the madness the store clerk said to us. Really! The time of the insane has come. March madness has not been cancelled. With us, conservative shopping reigned. Today, however, is the 1st time (and for the future) that we did not give our cat his favorite plastic bag to nibble so that he can vomit it up later. Au revoir, to your plastic obsession,  Bela

Good advice

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of themselves.  Women too. Salt and Pepper shakers off the tables in restaurants is the final straw! Better to do nothing than something. The owl of Minerva has closed her eyes obviating the possibility that her wisdom will be gained in hindsight. My world of daffodils continue to unfold. 360 degrees of golden consolation this time in spring each year. The display staggering. Heirloom flowers everywhere. Who but two isolated seniors on a plot of unproductive country land can appreciate this work of nature?  Yes, we all live, love and die alone.

panic

Yes the media, not the coronovirus is causing  panic. Yesterday our goofy former Governor Kasich said that "quite candidly they need an order." He can't speak a word of English clearly or intelligently. Nor can any pundit or media outlet. It is getting to me down that we are ALL going to die. That's impossible, but panic leads you to believe so. Me and my own true love are 80. Must I read this and weep?

Capital punishment

Here's a sad local report. 20 yr old female with 2 month old baby comes to apt. to  bring child for a visit to the 20 yr. old  father. He black; she white. They get into an argument and (luckily she puts baby down) he then chases her out of the room into the front yard claiming that no "one is going to 'f---'with him like that" shooting at her all the way. She falls dead. He's arrested without incident because no one is going to treat him "the f--- like that."  Apparently she informed him that she was moving on from his relationship with him.  Question #1: who raised this woman  to have baby with a man who uses language like  'fuck' constantly, impregnates her without fatherhood in marriage, finds a new man, and then becomes the victim (?) of him shooting her to death?  She's at fault, of course.  Question #2: who raised this man up to 20 yrs of age with his lack of moral character? Question #3 who now will raise this baby to adulthood? The child was turned over the child protective services, being only 2 months old and bi-racial of course. What should be done? HE should have been shot yesterday to rid our society of the expense of future upkeep. An ad in our local paper offering to give a home to this child should take the 1st person speaking up for this poor orphan baby. HER family ought to ashamed. HIS family ought to be ashamed.  Does SHAME exists anymore? Look it up in the dictionary and weep!

Sustainability

How can this nonsense over the coronavirus (Covid -- 19) be sustained? How can we endure Chuck and Nancy demanding that Snap and WIC welfare be extended because of these difficult times?  How can OSU afford to pay 4 ( yes, I said 4) assistant coaches over a million dollars each?

Elder abuse

It's apparent Joe Biden is not all there. Why is the Democrat party allowing such elder abuse of the Biden corpse? They want him to think that he has the Democrat nomination for President, his lifelong dream so that he can die happy. He'll never know he lost in a landslide after it's over. Elder abuse to which Democrats hypocritically are opposed is still used to make accusations against the Republicans.  Business as usual for them.

Without a conscience

How far from the top or the bottom are car dealers? Don't pay $4000 down to lease a fancy car - you don't have the money anyway. Come to our dealership where we can lease you a new and better vehicle for 0 down.  Exuberance and lies. Get nose out of butt to conclude broadcast.  SOOOO classy. Leasing is stupid; paying cash is smart. They know that but you can't make money that way.

Phoney

Do you know how to 'peg' a phoney? Words... words...words...to make you think they represent a person behind them. I heard a phoney woman running for office in the March 17th primary say she is a "traditional, conservative, pro-life, Trumpian, Republican;" also. a  mother, business person and yes, God bless America. Don't be fooled when someone tells you who they ARE. Are is usually a phoney.

Gentle Dentist

A local business called  the Gentle Dentist has massage chairs, blankets, Iv sedation and  TV. I wonder what their transactions cost? What happened to the drill, chemical odor and moveable chair?  What else  has gone away? Lots. A Presidential candidate who is sane. A study that is not agenda centered (obesity everywhere or children going to be hungry for examples). A radio ad that is rooted in reality not a utopian solution.

Watching thin, young men take down huge trees with ropes and chainsaws lifts my spirits. Their ambition and competency amaze me. What we need are more real men.  We don't need stupid ads spewing forth rapid-firing unfeminine voices hawking useless products, non-profits or public announcements.

Super Tuesday

How super is a Tuesday with a pain patch, heating pad, pain pill and intermittent sciatica paralytic episodes? Not super! Reinhold Niebuhr had it right when he said: "The hero defies malignant power to assert the integrity of his soul. He suffers because he is strong, not weak. Our pity is because it does not weep for itself." Oh that I could live heroically or at least for a moment. So far, failing.

However, I knew a heroic cat; undaunted in the face of malignant powers of nature, driven to preserve its life in spite of unwelcome costs. The end inevitable, however.  And of course, sad.

The Prince

"It makes him contemptible when he is considered fickle, frivolous, effeminate, mean-spirited, irresolute, from all of which a prince should guard himself as from a rock;  and  he should endeavor to show in  his actions greatness, courage, gravity and fortitude; and in his private dealings with his subjects let him show that his judgments are irrevocable, and maintain himself in such reputation that no one can hope either to deceive him or get round him..." Niccolo Machiavelli in The Prince.  Does this not resonate today as we select our national leader again?

A philosopher king

"Until philosophers are kings, or the kings and princes of this world have the spirit and power of philosophy, and political greatness and wisdom meet in one, and those commoner natures who pursue either to the exclusion of the other are compelled to stand aside,  cities will NEVER have rest from their evils - nor the human race, as I believe - and then only will this our state have a possibility of life and behold the light of day."  Republic, Plato

Sciatica

What in Hell is sciatica? I can tell you. Cortisone shot ineffective this time. Lidocaine patch some help with heating pad, but depression the worst side effect for an active person. What can you contribute to my abandonment of hope for a pain-free future? Little do healthy Democrat candidates or a healthy Republican candidate know about the suffering of a sedentary lifestyle. Good is not my grief!  Fixing what's wrong with our beloved country from behind a laptop gives me little consolation. What can you contribute to my abandonment of hope for America's future?
