The last paragraph

One always must read the last paragraph of a news story. Thererin lies the pain. GM claims to have reached profitability. In the last paragraph of a flag waving article about its success after government takeover and restructuring, I read that GM will spend $200 million this quarter to give its 45,000 U.S. union employees average profit-sharing payments of $4,200. These payouts are part of GM’s contract with the United Auto Workers union. These checks are a RECORD annual amount. Oh, Oh, Oh, what the big ‘O’ has wrought. Also, 1/3 of corn grown this year will feed ethanol not PEOPLE. Sometimes the price of success if death. Like with Dietrich Bonhoeffer who paid the ultimate price of his conscience, somewhere there’s a lesson here to be learned.

Our 3rd or 4th Revolution

1789 witnessed in France the 1st democratic revolution based on the Enlightenment; 1917 witnessed the 1st Communist revolution based on Bolshevism. The big ‘O’ is responsible for our 1st American revolution based on socialism begun with his election in 2008. Each revolution means restructuring the political system, a proliferation of new interest groups, parties and upheaval within the bureaucracy and administration. Each revolution depends upon a mandate of solidarity by the voting constituency. Afterwards, the people remain united because of ideology, participation and socio-economical benefits. But what always happens a few years after a revolution? The system cracks. Government controls too much, government gets the blame for the problems and eventually the ‘new’ system collapses. Or another revolution bubbles up.

1789 and 1917 revolutions led to terrible, terrible consequences. Is America also headed for a fall? We already have had terrible consequences from the big ‘O’ administration. But the Tea Party using its people’s energies and the internet and FaceBoook, are like an above ground samizdat, that attempts to bring a halt to Obama’s socialist revolution. Underground publications, Samizdats in the Soviet Union, spread real news and democratic opinions. We, using our samizdat, must publish, speak out and communicate the truth about the road to socialism. Our samizdat must speak the truth as Americans did in the only revolution of the 18th century that demands respect - the American Revolution of 1776. Dissident, Vaclav Havel in 1979 wrote about rejecting state power and lies. He helped to inspire the ‘velvet revolution’ of Czechoslovakia by telling the people to “live within the truth.”

After witnessing the power of the revolutionary party functionaries in Madison, Wisconsin, we the people in Tea Parties all across the country must continue to speak the truth to power. Bravely. Boldly. Our country badly needs us now.

POEM

“The stardust, that is whirled aloft and flies
From the invisible chariot-wheels of God.”

“No endeavor is in vain:
Its reward is in the doing,
And the rapture of pursuing
Is the prize the vanquished gain.”

“And inspirations that we deem our own,
Are some divine foreshadowing and foreseeing
Of things beyond our reason or control.”

SNOW-FLAKES
Out of the bosom of the Air,
Out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,
Over the woodlands brown and bare,
Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent and soft, and slow
Descends the snow.

Even as our cloudy fancies take
Suddenly shape in some divine expression,
Even as the troubled heart doth make
In the white countenance confession,
The troubled sky reveals
The grief it feels.

This is the poem of the air,
Slowly in silent syllables recorded;
This is the secret of despair,
Long in its cloudy bosom hoarded,
Now whispered and revealed
To wood and field.

THE DAY IS DONE
The day is done, and darkness
Falls from the wings of Night,
As a feather is wafted downward
From an eagle in his flight. ...

And the night shall be filled with music,
And the cares, that infest the day,
Shall fold their tents, like the Arabs,
And as silently steal away.

STILL TWO AMERICAS

Let’s face it, there may always be two Americas. The big ‘O’ lied about it years ago in his ‘great’ speech at the 2004 Democrat convention and the protesters in Wisconsin demonstrate its reality today. Let’s not get discouraged when we Tea Partiers have the power of truth and they have the power to deceive.

Here’s the status quo. Liberal, socialist and Communist protesters can hold up pictures of Gov. Scott Walker’s children to further their cause and protest at his home BUT if Republicans and conservatives dare duplicate these actions, they will be called ‘bad’ names by the left. The liberals’ hypocrisy betrays them every time. Tom pointed out yesterday at VDH’s (Victor Davis Hanson’s ) web site that this “New Class” is alive and well. The elite who represent the Union members are unable to see reality as they defend the status quo which cannot be sustained.

Here’s the status quo. The “concerns of the Union members” are NOT valid. Wisconsin is 3 billion dollars in the hole and the new rules proposed by the Governor will only create a stopgap remedy over 2 years by raising the health care premium to 12 % and the pension requirement to 5%. The state now runs a 3 billion dollar deficit. State and federal government workers salaries are already 30% higher than in the private sector. The average is about $65,000. Gov. Walker will not let 10,000 protesters tell him what’s right for millions of Wisconsin taxpayers. 30% of teachers send their own children to private schools.

Here’s the status quo. A protester in Wisconsin admits to being a Communist in favor of revolution the likes of which Castro or Che inspired.. Another protester said that “just because you win an election doesn’t mean you can do what you want without consulting anyone.” EXCUSE ME - is this not exactly what our big ‘O’ has done after he said, “I won.”

Here’s the status quo. Ohio has the 7th highest tax structure for individuals and businesses - a blueprint for failure even if we believe that Gov. Kasich’s jobs force for Ohio can do some good. First we need to reduce taxes and regulations.

Here’s the status quo. A great deceiver on the left - George Soros - recently said that we the Tea Party are being deceived! We are being deceived about reducing taxation and regulation! I guess we are supposed to be embracing more taxation and regulation. Poor, poor old George. May I never reach such dotage.

Here’s the status quo. Keep the faith like the Marines who just a few days ago commemorated the invasion of Iwo Jima, Feb 19th, 1945.

Finally, here’s to the new kid on the NASCAR block who at age 20 won the Daytona 500. The 2nd race of his career. ( Even though he cannot use the points he received.) We Tea Party newcomers on the political scene can win too if we follow the advice of Churchill to never, never, never give up.

Rights and laws from our Creator

When is a state most corrupt? When the laws are most abundant according to Tacitus in Annals III, 27. The more writings and laws, the greater the weakness of men.

Man is a free, intelligent and noble creature, nevertheless he’s a instrument of God, according to Plutarch.

Letters thrown from a tower will never form a poem and man is not a collection of random atoms in space according to Cicero.

The common denominator in the thinking of each of the above 3 writers is a belief in an innate, divinely inspired law common to all men. The unwritten law precedes the written code and no government can escape the need for God.

Origin, a Greek theologian from about 200 A.D. adds that “Nothing can be altered for the better among men without God.”

French philosopher Joseph de Maistre, writing in 1809, adds a final voice when he comments about the 1st half of the 18th century: “Men of this age have prostituted genius to irreligion.”

I’m not totally clear in my understanding of ‘magical thinking,’ but one explanation is that ‘magical thinking’ makes it taboo to acknowledge a reality that is not in keeping with one’s politically correct, liberal mindset. Of course, liberals practice perennial ‘magical thinking,’ It is irresistible to the heart of a liberal to flaunt tolerance of extreme, jihadist sympathies. It is also irresistible to the heart of a liberal to not support cost reduction, fiscal responsibility and reduced government spending. It is ‘magical thinking’ that leads the Obama and his administration to dismiss the natural laws of God and men by proscribing endless rule and taxes, punishments and prohibitions.

How can Americans live free if they are in chains?

MY GRAMMIES

1. Waste award: To the President’s budget which is cacophony, not music to my ears when it includes needless spending on education and Hi-speed Rail.

2. Irrelevancy award: To me, because even though clothing costs will rise10%, it’s irrelevant to me because I shop at local Thrift stores.

3. Biggest loser award: To golfer Tiger Woods who was fined for spitting in Dubai.

4. Best bargain award: To me, again, because even though the average spent on Valentine’s gifts is $116, my $1.00 musical card has been re-used now for 6 years.

5. New artist award: To China, who has risen on the chart to the 2nd largest economy in the world after the U.S.

6. Best joke award: To the President’s budget again, which claims to cut a whopping 14% from the deficit of 8 trillion in 10 years.
