Who is the wicked witch of the left whose big partisan maw can’t control itself? Whose candidate for President spawns ( an ironic, liberal media headline word) new U-tube videos daily? Whose fellow travelers, hollow men and women, roam the halls of government central banks and Congress leaving lies in their wake?

Liberals and leftists, socialists and communists ( who Ronald Reagan ‘pegged’ correctly), Muslims - lie. Iran, North Korea lie. Hellary Clinton, for example, expects the American people to believe that the 2 million homeowners who carry 3 trillion in debt need a bailout. Doing the math, each mortgage would be worth 1.5 million dollars. No way! No economist, CPA or statistician, just a tiny calculator puts a typical liberal to her lie.

The Muslim Allah is not the Christian God because Jesus is not their Savior who fulfilled the Covenant with the Jews. Muslims wage jihad in Allah’s name. Liberals’ justify their jihad, struggle for power, in the name of a false ideology. The culture of liberals like Eastern and Muslim culture, depends upon saving face not goodness and grace. Vanquishing the infidel takes priority in either case. Incidental lies simply serve a useful purpose.

So be alert. Wickedness be sweet in Nancy Pelosi’s mouth though she hide it under her liberal tongue.

Good ole days

Oh, for the good, ole’ days. Oct. 1, 2008, marks the 100 year anniversary of the introduction of the Model T Ford. Clocking in at 45 mph, 20 hp, 2 gears and a reverse, available in only 4 colors - red, green, blue and black- and selling for $1000, it took America by storm. And of course, this being America, driving conditions could only improve. By 1913 with the introduction of the assembly line by Henry Ford, the motorized horse dropped in price to $250 and lost the choice of any color but black. Nothing, however, could curtail consumers’ enthusiasm for ‘tearing up the roadways’ in tin lizzies.

Edmund Burke warned us in 1784 that "The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion." Burke did observe the French Revolution but he obviously could not observe President Roosevelt’s New Deal of 1933 ( the 75th anniversary we celebrate this year). Roosevelt said "it was the government’s job to straighten out this situation (bad banking) and do it as quickly as possible." He passed the Emergency Banking act. Sound familiar? Congress and President Bush wish to pass a 700 billion dollar bailout package to rescue our banking and financial institutions in a state of crisis.

Burke also never encountered extreme, socialist and liberal Democrat, Barack Obama, our candidate for President. Even though citizens rendered up their liberties in the French Revolution failed and in the New Deal, both ultimately failed. The delusional attempt of politicians serving the common to rescue America will also fail. But Henry Ford’s creation did not fail; Americans’ never deluded themselves about their four-wheeled loves in red, blue, green or black. Even when the object of their passion was painted only in black, they continued to love her and make love to her - even up to this day.

But warning, warning, a liberty stolen cannot easily be repurchased or regained.

Through dark glasses

One’s glasses frame reality but even those who don’t need spectacles cannot see clearly in Washington. Liberals vs. conservatives. Partisan politics vs. unyielding principles. Socialist vs. capitalist lenses. Hopefully the rest of the world looks askance or chooses to be oblivious to the insanity here at home. Ever since Obama’s speech in 2004 heralding not a divided but a united America, Republicans and Democrats, conservatives and liberals have drifted farther and farther apart. Of course Obama’s speech inspired his listeners to see and then hear him through rose-colored glasses of hope and change. Obama delivered his speech, however, from behind dark glasses that hid his shades of socialism and racism. Regardless of what T.S. Eliot the poet meant in his poem about hollow men, beginning and ending with Barack Obama, the metaphorical empty suit, this is what Americans get from politicians today.

Law of large numbers

What is the law of large numbers? Incomprehensible. 700 billion for a financial bailout. A 600 billion spending bill from the House. 25 billion to car makers to increase fuel efficiency. 56 billion in a stock offering. George Soros made 1 billion betting against the British pound. A fund betting against sub-prime mortgages made 56 billion including 4 billion for John Paulson. 2 million homeowners hold 3 trillion in debt. A financial expert says the Federal government could make 1 to 2 trillion on bad loans and CDO’s (collateralized debt obligations). The law of large numbers, billions, trillions, is incomprehensible. If responsibility, rules, discipline and accountability can solve the present crisis where are we going to find these virtues? Only in the souls of individuals with integrity? If the law of large numbers applies, righteous men and women will be few.

Still s....

Where did today’s financial debacle begin? An ambassador said that "In the Clinton administration foreign policy was a 2nd-level interest and its conduct was, to be charitable, often wanting." Apparently domestic and monetary policy followed suit in the Clinton administration. In war as well as in peace, what a Lieutenant Colonel said remains true. "Too often we elevate safety of decision over decisiveness. We may admire Jackson but we imitate McClellan." From the Clinton administration to the present day, the cocky, cautious Civil War general has set the example for leadership that our Presidents have followed. So we have arrived at a monetary meltdown - a crisis facilitated by laziness, irresponsibility and greed. HUMINT, human intelligence gained by human assets not technological means, should have foreseen it; now Congress and politicians gimmick America’s economy without any notion of the unforseen consequences. In military or civilian terms - "We’re s......."

The center can't hold

The two complimentary forces of life in Eastern thought are yin and yang. Yin is conceived as earth, female, dark, passive, and absorbing; it is present in even numbers, in valleys and streams and is represented by the tiger, the color orange and a broken line. Yang is conceived of as heaven, male, light, active, and penetrating; it is present in odd numbers, in mountains, and is represented by the dragon, the color azure, and an unbroken line. The two are to proceed from the Supreme Ultimate, their interplay on one another (as one increases the other decreases) being a description of the actual process of the universe and all that is in it. In harmony, the two are depicted as the light and dark halves of a circle.

Simply substitute liberal and conservative or Democrat and Republic for yin and yang. Voila! The world of politics stripped bare as our Western concept of darkness and light is applied. But a major problem immediately arises. Why do not the two parties complement each other rather than function as diametrical opposites? Why do not the two parties form a tense but unified whole? Why does their unending interplay never synthesize for the common good of America?
Perhaps the center of the circle cannot hold?

Obesity epidemic

6' 7" 290 lbs. ea. for 2 local high school football players. In fact, several "kids" weigh 270,280 and 290 lbs. to hear a local football coach tell it. What better proof of an obesity epidemic in America? Too much food is resulting in larger and bulkier bodies available for positions on athletic fields of play. Too many calories not burned off also result in obesity. Is this not a great country or what? A local coach utilizes words like "legend" and phrases like "stole his thunder," for 7th and 8th graders. Politics is a whole different game for sports’ fanatics. Hope for him embodies the opponent’s quarterback not "winning the snap." Change for him means additional fans who "take a gander" at his athletes. The size of youth today represents food for thought. Abundance of nutrition is a double-decker cheeseburger. One level provides for bigger, healthier athletes. A second level facilitates overweight, even obese youth and adults. Yes, prosperity has allowed for individuals to "Have it your way," as suggested in a commercial for Burger King.

Makes perfect sense?

"I pray Heaven Bestow the Best of Blessings on this House and all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but Honest and Wise Men ever rule under this Roof." These words make perfect sense referring to the White House. John Adams spoke them on November 1st, 1800 as he prepared to took up residence there. His words appealed to President Franklin Roosevelt who inscribed them on the fireplace of the State Dining Room below Abraham Lincoln’s portrait. The stately mansion with 130 rooms on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. has seen not only numerous physical renovations, upgrades and expansions, but also many retrogrades and regressions of character in its occupants from the fine sentiment of John Adams. Not even Lincoln could boast that the best of blessings blessed his House. Crooks and fools often ruled under its expansive roof. The male tradition of American leaders has even been challenged but not overcome. George Washington who blessed America with his presence as first Commander in Chief certainly lived honestly and ruled wisely, but he never occupied the White House. Imperfection summarizes the march of Presidents, not perfect sense.

A Fall Saturday

Workers and shirkers ply their trades on a typical Fall Saturday. On my lane live 7 separate households with single, double or triple occupancies. Some dwellers take trips here and there in a car or out and about in a truck, trips to town, to restaurants, for visiting, shopping, who knows? (Their trips were uninterrupted even the day of or after hurricane Ike’s tail swept by us.) Some residents pick up sticks and branches, trim, prune or remove trees a week after the big blow and create a blazing, evening bonfire. A carefree youth rides a noisy 4-wheeler back and forth, back and forth on the grass. One dweller walks little but talks a lot a cell phone. Visitors come and go to help some dwellers pass the time. Other dwellers’ weights preclude exercise. Ambition is on display from dwellers who with a log splitter buzzing away hour after hour (actually from morning to dusk ) produce a tall stack of split wood for winter warmth. A dweller traverses a large field behind a DR mower, sun and sweat-drenched. Apples are being assiduously pressed by the muscled arms of another dweller turning a crank again and again and again. Workers wear themselves out on a delicious, fall Saturday. Only four senior citizens take time out to visit God. Shirkers do what they have done best three hundred and sixty four other days of the year. They labor little, conserve less gas and lead the least productive lives on the lane. The workers make good use of their time, attempt to better themselves and their surroundings and sleep best.

We, they are s.....

From the Commander in Chief idiot on down, we, they are s....... When President Bush thinks the government bailouts and buyouts are "not warranted but essential," I know we the scrimpers and savers - as opposed to the profligate, greedy, unprincipled movers and shakers - are s....... A blogger expressed my sentiments exactly by describing Washington and its minions as "hordes of fanged cockroaches." Now having been there, done that and seen many of them, I can verify the tenacious and indiscriminate pursuits of the fittest, brown, buggy survivors. Rather than work nocturnally like honest cockroaches, the politicians, CEO’s, managers and fellow travelers have worked behind the scenes to cause the present financial crises. Savers, investors, stockholders, shareholders, responsible homeowners and borrowers - we all are s....... We, they, will lose big time; the futures we, they planned for will be compromised. Rest assured, however, we, they will seek no salvation from Big Brother who always is the problem not the solution.

No jest

"A jest breaks no bones " according to quotable 18th century author, Samuel Johnson, but meanness and criminality break rules. The latest liberal behavior - tapping into the private E-mails of Republican vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s family - proves that "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" (Johnson again). Surely the hacker responsible for this reprehensible action justifies his investigation as devotion and duty to his Democrat candidate Barack Obama who he believes should rule America from the White House. Such a patriotic "patron" was defined in Samuel Johnson’s Dictionary of 1755. A patron is "commonly a wretch who supports with insolence, and is paid with flattery." What has been done, of course, will not be condoned by bi-partisan flattery (I hope). Unfortunately, Obama can slough off this deliberate and politically motivated deprivation of freedom in his name by simply claiming, "Not I , Lord."

Granted, liberals possess no sense of humor or jest. Deadly and serious is each arrow in their quiver of lies, smears and shameless accusations. Without a sense of humor and assurance that many fools fall for the Devil’s deceptions, how could we conservatives survive in the wilderness hoping for a shot at this season’s deer, drooling for the first mouthful of venison from "the hunted?"

No power

After 3 days without electrical power or fresh water, I’m back! Damn tail end of hurricane Ike blew through with high winds, junk and debris which seems to mimic the last minute tactics of politicians - both Republicans and Democrats - during the close of this election season. It forced me to pick up (and chop up) woody debris, 360 degrees, some of which I burned. Too bad the same cannot be done with the detritus of politicians’ actions. I am hearing no conservative lingo at this time; only liberal mania and absurd promises from both camps. How can any citizen pay for anything if politicians take money away from us to pay for everything? I’m reminded of the plaque titled "Footsteps" on one of my kitchen’s walls. When the burden of life is too heavy, its poem suggests that we let the Lord carry us. Therefore, two, not four footprints in the photo, depress the sand. Not so when McCain or Obama takes brush to canvas. The government, not Jesus will carry us over any and all rough spots whether or not they are of our own making. A bailout, a voucher, a leg up, a grant, a subsidy, a loan, a handout - each giveaway provides a lift up on the shoulders of government who will shoulder each citizen’s (and non-citizen’s) burdens. Even though one must be poor or middle class to get carried, rest assured, the poor, the middle class, the aspirational and the wealthy (no matter how difficult their road to riches) - all will not be "saved" by government after the empty shoulders give out.

Elitism

Virginia Woolf, the elitist, English novelist and essayist of the early 20th century asked: "Is the life of a charwoman who has brought up 8 children of less value to the world than the barrister who has made a 100,000 pounds?" What say you? Virginia, by the way, maintained her distance from the world of the commoner as an elitist with servants throughout her life. I say without equivocation or apology, the world of the barrister would not be possible without the dedication and vocation of a mother. I say lawyers have wreaked greater harm on society in their pursuit of the common good than a simple woman serving a worthy cause. I say understanding the chasm between the two strata, commoner and elitist, is vital. It demonstrates the difference between educated, right judgment and an alienated, socialist philosophy. Allowing for the poetic license of exaggeration, I say compare Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama. Who has more value to offer America?

Juxtaposed

Juxtapose the statistic that 340,000 Ohioans last year used a HEAP voucher to provide a "re-connect or continuation service" for an unpaid utility bill with the fact that already 85% of the ads for this year’s Super Bowl have been sold, some costing 3 million dollars for 30 seconds. More money than brains stands side-by-side with less brains than money. Also, committed voters in this year’s election highlight the juxtaposition of Obama supporters seeing the economy like a ½ empty cup with McCain Republicans knowing the mug is ½ full. Liberals who love to gulp down doom and gloom can’t explain away many new athletic fields and new school constructions and so much refurnishing, refurbishing and remolding that has swept across my locale and most of America just this last year. Freeloading - loans, grants, funding and bailouts from government - juxtaposes with thrifty, solid, responsible citizens unwilling to define integrity by handouts. Trouble is, too few like me, the anti-government, optimistic 20%, would look out of place posed in a photo-up beside too many, the 80%, who look for financial help in the wrong places and live in liberal denial.

The 1st and worst of all frauds is to cheat oneself. Boy, oh boy, does the man-child Obama live this truth. My, oh my how he betrays his potential. Yes, oh yes, Obama spouts lies and prevaricates for personal and political gain because his vision of reality perverts truth. The Democrat candidate wishes to get beyond personality attacks to the real issue of the economy. Yet he and his advisors and supporters continue personality attacks. Of course, the ‘real’ issue is his judgment and character; the non-issue is the state of the economy. Even though Obama claims the Bush administration has been ‘cheap’ with the public welfare, the Federal budget has increased spending 91% for community improvements between 2001 and 2008. Education, health, veterans, medicare and defense have all increased 50% in that same time period even though Obama plans to spend even more across the board excluding the military. Does this sound like a sluggish economy? Any idiot can read, see, hear, taste or feel that things have improved, are improving daily in Americans’ lives. Regarding sports, recreation, travel, renovations, enhancements, enticements, grants, funding, improvements - advancement not regression has been the norm. Americans have more discretionary money and time available, not less. Only the explanation of stupid behavior can account for failures or downturns. Only a lie about a half-empty mug will do for liberals and Obama.

End or duty?

Teleological ethics from the Greek roots for "end" "science," is a theory of morality that derives moral obligation from what is good or desirable as an end to be achieved. It is opposed to deontological ethics from the Greek roots for "duty" "science," which holds that the basic standards for an action’s being morally right are independent of the good or evil generated.

So which is it for Presidential candidates today? Forget experience; begin with judgment. Who judges duty to the good first; who judges duty to the cause? If actions are independent from morality, duty to the cause or leader comes first regardless of right or wrong consequences. Such is the deontological ethics of liberals. If actions follow from a duty to a morally good outcome, such is the teleological ethics of conservatives. Simplifying and differentiating the ends and means in either type of ethics, exposes the dangers of either putting duty before truth and reason as liberals usually do or ignoring the basic principles of individual freedom and responsibility upon which conservatism should stand.

Other than attention to the complications of punctuation and indentations, this paean to God renders easy access to hope for a positive change. This prayer dates back to the 4th or 5th century A.D. that is, after the Lord’s birth. In 2008 I still say, bring Him on!

Best of times, worst of t.....

It’s the best of times when every time Barack Obama opens his mouth and speaks he reveals himself as an idiot. But it’s the worst of times when his fans don’t hear what he says - or care. Furthermore, when Obama speaks out of both sides of his mouth at once, his supporters synthesize his words into pablum they can swallow with ease. Thus their consciences remain clear. Obama’s Church, for example, preaches that no middle class should exist; yet Obama campaigns as a savior of the middle class. The best sentiments like hope and change under an Obama mandate, will represent the worst of results for Americans and America’s economy. Under Obama, the ‘rich’ will pay more taxes. But who are the ‘rich?’ Those whose incomes are determined by Obama to represent wealth. No longer will middle class workers aspire to greater wealth, no longer should lower income workers try to improve their financial situation, no longer could the super rich spread their bounteous wings.

Red and Black

"Le Rouge et le noir" as title of a Stendhal 1830 novel, sums up the intrinsic duality of human experience. The author’s fiction work, "The Red and the Black" exposes the tension between the red, the Army, and the black, the Church. But Stendhal also wrote about the Yin and Yang of the Romantic and the Rationalist, the bourgeois and elite, cynicism and hope, sexual conquest and tender love. The red and black as symbols can mean acid and base or liberal and conservative, but somewhere, somehow, a middle ground, a neutrality, a golden mean, common sense needs to be reached. A PH balance is necessary for metabolic and societal equilibrium. A quote in Stengelese ( from baseball legend Casey Stengel), will illustrate: "I’ve always heard it couldn’t be done; but sometimes it don’t always work." Compromise sometimes seems an impossibility between the red and the black; yet abandoning the attempt means that it will never work.

What is to be done?

1. When - Bill Maher runs a full page age in a national newspaper advertising his "unabridged, uncensored, unfiltered election coverage, live on HBO. A sign reads "Bill Maher will work for change." We who know, know liberals lie.

2. When - Ohio’s Governor and Senator pull a full-time paid sick day benefit proposal from the local November ballot - not because they follow the will of the people opposing it, but because they have cut a deal to put the issue on a national ballot. We know liberal politicians deceive.

3. When - Teen pregnancies are on the upswing. We know parents don’t teach morality.

4. When -Citizens dump their appliances, trash and unwanteds into local Wal-Mart recycling bins.We know our culture encourages irresponsibility.

5. When - A local deputy sheriff deputy, whose brother, a murderer she supports, gets herself arrested for dereliction of duty and criminal misconduct yet she manages to get released from jail and hired elsewhere as a chief of police. We know our justice system reeks.

When - College no longer centers around intellectual pursuits. We know educational institutions forego learning.

What’s to be done when our culture permits, encourages, even accepts lies, deceptions, immorality, irresponsibility, injustice and frivolity? What distinguishes man from the animal might be the complicated businesses of consciousness and conscience, but what is to be done when the organ that demands 20% of our blood supply and determines life and death is wasted? Sure waste is O.K at a political convention. Sure confetti, balloons dropping and a screened fireworks display are excusable. But surely mindless activity is a terrible waste.

Go, Sarah, go

Money greases the wheels of progress and buys the bricks that build an empire. The Rothschilds provide a great example. Their global dynasty has lasted over 200 years. From its inception with Jew Mayer Rothschild of Frankfort, Germany in the 1700's, the dynasty devolved through his five sons. Carl in Naples, Italy, James in Paris, France, Nathan in London, England, Salomon in Vienna, Austria and Amschel carried on his father’s work in Germany. The original house of the "red shield" was occupied by the matriarch of the family who, having produced 20 children, 10 of whom reached adulthood, died at 96. Even though today’s world differs technically from the past, dynamism and dedication, great women and great men, still deserve to reap rewards.

Governor Sarah Palin has a long way to go. Now that I have taken her and McCain to task for not being up front with the revelation of her unwed, pregnant daughter, I can proceed to observe that Mrs. Palin’s (never a Ms.) past is played, her present portentous and her future looks good. Judging from the response of her party and the American people, good may lead to great.

We're scr-----

No I’m not referring the pregnant daughter of Sarah Palin who may or may not become an unwed mother. I’m referencing the loss of academic purity. Minds are now as easy as virginity to waste. Learning has been lost to sports mania. Athletic achievement prostitutes itself on and off the playing fields at our primary and secondary schools.

There’s always a study to contradict a previous study - except when it relates to primary and secondary schools. The results of academic studies rarely vary; students learn less and less as they participate in extra-curricular sports venues more and more. Forget the mind; feed the body. A newly hired, local high school assistant principal breeds true to type. "Sport has been a big part of my life. And my wife and her family, and my children. .. As go the senior class, so goes the school. ... Evidence of success is those trophies in the hallway."

Dismissing schools early today at 1 p.m. for heat, doesn’t also cancel practices for or scheduled athletic competitions. Only the sports’ show goes on and on. I am sickened by it all.

A change

Something’s changed in my status quo. A reservation, retraction, apology or reconsideration is in order. Since Sarah Palin has revealed that her 17 yr. old daughter is 5 mos. pregnant, her glass ceiling has sustained a deep crack. No longer am I unequivocally enthusiastic about her vice-Presidential nomination. Nor am I any longer overwhelmed by her superiority to me or any other man or woman. Sex should come after marriage. Murder is wrong. Period. Knowing that life doesn’t always play out that way, doesn’t change the major premise. Only from a valid major premise, can the minor premise and the ergo, follow. Period. If ½ of girls between the ages of 15 and 19 have sex at least once, according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, then the Institute errors in its data or parents error in their 2nd most important role in life. (The primary role being of spouse.) If 82% of teen pregnancies are unplanned, proper prior planning has obviously not been practiced. If 29% of those pregnancies end in abortion, 29% of those decision are sinful. If 57% result in live births, at least ½ of girls who deliberately or ‘accidentally’ conceive a child, adhere to the major premise that a baby deserves a chance to live. Those who see the cup ½ full do the right thing; those who see the cup ½ empty like an unwanted pregnancy or the ‘punishment of a child’ (according to Presidential nominee, Barack Obama) operate under a false major premise.

My reservation is with Sarah and McCain refraining from full disclosure before or when the nomination was announced. With honest disclosure should have come disapproval and disgust. Disclosure could then have been followed by life support. I retract my hint that Sarah is perfect. I apologize for naivete that led to my full support. Now that I have had time to reconsider, however, the alternative of elitist, progressive, arrogant, socialism playing God and playing with my money and my freedoms makes the choice of a Republican my only option.

Capillary proof

The 80/20 rule might be used to solve the problem of proving the existence of God. 20% of the blood pumped by the heart feeds the head. The remaining 80% sustains the body. Such importance attached to the brain must prove that a "mind is a terrible thing to waste" in a human being created in the image and likeness of a god. Capillaries might be used as proof. They are minute vessels connecting arteries and veins that deliver life-sustaining blood to and from the heart. The human body contains 50,000 miles of capillaries. This awesome fact suggests the might and glory of a god.
