Earth Day 2009

What does a day on this earth offer? Coal, Electricity and automobiles - 3 gifts from Mother nature via human endeavors. The fall of America, the new Rome, slowly and as yet not violently with the advent of Emperor Obama. The meaningless words of our President’s Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner: "Mostly we want people reinforcing the need to execute and act on the commitments we all made together because a coordinated response is going to be more forceful." The beauty of a classic poem by Walt Whitman.

DUMB DELIGHTS
I think I could turn and live with animals,
they’re so placid and self-contained:
I stand and look at them long and long.
They do no sweat and whine about their condition;
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins;
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God;
Not one is dissatisfied- not one is demented with the
mania of owning things;
Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived
thousands of years ago;
Not one is respectable or industrious over the whole
earth.
