POLICE NONSENSE

I AM ENRAGED BEYOND ALL MEASURE," AS DR. LAURA SCHLESSINGER WOULD SAY ABOUT YOUNG WOMEN BEARING CHILDREN OUT OF WEDLOCK. I AM ANGERED ABOUT THE STUFF AND NONSENSE THAT PASSES AS POLICY FOR MY STATE POLICE. IF A STATE HIGHWAY TROOPER DOES HIS DUTY, SHOULD HE BE SENT HOME? ARE WE NOT PAYING OUR OFFICERS WITH THE EXPECTATION OF PROTECTION? IS NOT SELF-DEFENSE A NATURAL RIGHT AND DUTY? DO BAD PEOPLE EXIST WHO OWN GUNS, PULL THEM AND THEN ATTEMPT TO SHOOT LAW ENFORCEMENT WITH THEM? EACH OF THESE FOUR ARE RHETORICAL QUESTIONS. YET, FOR PROBABLY A POLITICALLY CORRECT AND MORALLY INCORRECT REASON, A STATE TROOPER, WHO STOPPED A PERSON FOR A TRAFFIC VIOLATION, WHO FOUND HIS LIFE TO BE THREATENED, WHO THEN PROTECTED HIMSELF AND SOCIETY FROM THE (I WILL NOT USE THE WORD ALLEGED) ATTEMPTED MURDERER, NOW FINDS HIMSELF ON "PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE ." WHERE IS A SIGH OF RELIEF HE'S SAFE, A VOTE OF THANKS OR A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR HIM? WHAT DOES HIS SIDELINING MEAN OTHER THAN THAT HE MUST STAY HOME AND NOT DO THE JOB HE WAS TRAINED AND HIRED TO DO? AN ELDERLY, FORMER SENATOR, ALAN SIMPSON, RECENTLY OBSERVED THAT WASHINGTON BELTWAY POLITICS IS FULL OF "CONTROVERSY, CRAP AND CONFUSION." MY FINAL QUESTION: SHOULD THESE WORDS NOT DESCRIBE THE PUBLIC'S REACTION TO MY STATE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S POLICY?
