All terms carried double meanings under Communist occupied Tibet. “Bourgeois excesses” were the 2nd floor of homes which had to be razed. “Dirty black tails of serfdom” were the braids of hair that had to be cut off. The “Four Olds” (ideology, culture, habits and customs ) to be replaced by the “Four News,” their inverse. Communes under Communists in Tibet, were called “Golden Bridges to the Socialist Paradise. In reality, they were virtual slave labor camps. One month of reprisals and violent clashes against Tibetans under Communist rule was called “the February adverse current.” Arrests occurred under the rubric of the “three antis,” petty business, pilferage and bad elements. Mao’s “Underground Great Wall” was actually a tunnel system for military activities.

Communism of the Red Guard ( mostly comprised of adolescents and youth in their early 20's) and the Cultural Revolution in Tibet, 1959 to 1977, utilized rape, torture, execution, ubiquitous thamzing meaning “struggle session, propaganda, lies, religious persecution and revisionist history. Communism planned the end of Tibetan civilization as the Tibetans knew it. Life in Tibet under Communist rule was class warfare at its best.

The estimate for Tibetan victims of Communist is one million. This does not count the thousands of prisoners in four categories who would “never to be released.”
