5 Miles Per Hour

When sanity today is hidden in a closet, how can we coax her into the light? A Professor of American history justifies expanding state power and big government control as right, meet, proper and just patriotism. The bank, Morgan Stanley, claims in an ad that “little minds need big meals. One out of every four children in this country struggles to get enough food for their bodies and minds to develop properly.” An army private becomes pregnant while on duty in Afghanistan. High school students in Cincinnati were escorted to the polls to early vote the Democrat ticket. WIC vouchers cannot purchase potatoes.

The insanity of reality or unreality. How depressing. Here’s an example of the unkindest cut of all in the government-mandated electric car industry beyond the $5 billion in tax credits to buyers and subsidized loans and grants to auto makers. Car-charging stations at taxpayer’s expense. A company ECOtality has been given $115 million federal contract dollars to set up 15,000 charging points in 16 metro areas by next September. A spokesman says that “ if chargers were installed in parking garages, valets could rotate cars on and off the chargers and make sure electric cars don’t get blocked from the chargers by conventional vehicles.” Get the picture? He continues; “Car owners may pay by swiping a card. Perhaps an annual fee such as $25. Maybe $5 a charge.” Also, this company plans to “test different pricing structures to see how consumers respond.” One consumer ( me) knows how she would respond to another way to steal my money. And how many miles could you travel after juicing up on a 120 volt, 20 amp charger ( a typical home outlet) for one hour? Five! Five! For Tezla’s sake, a mere five miles! ‘E-car’ from earth to Eco politicians from outer space: “You’re telling me that for a 20 mile round trip to town and back, I must spend 4 hours plugged into a charger? Where’s the time for my night life? Insanity, I tell, you. Insanity. Oh, you the government says I could purchase a $2,500 240 volt, 40 amp charger instead?”
