            Why War, Rand?

The sad fact of life is that, if evil is not resisted, it will prevail.  That is the justification for the use of force to deter, and if necessary, defeat those who turn to it to further their own ends, the justification for maintaining in the service of the community and the state, forces who are trained, skilled and well-equipped to meet the challenge when and wherever it arises.  Their profession is an honorable one.
