3 FOR 1

YESTERDAY I ENCOUNTERED 3 DEATHS. ONE SECOND MISJUDGEMENT DECIDED THE FATE OF A RED SQUIRREL TRYING TO CROSS A CITY STREET. DASHING, IT WAS STRUCK DEAD BY THE CAR IN FRONT OF MY VAN, ITS BODY TREMBLING IN EXTREMIS. OH NO! AT CHURCH, THE DESTINATION OF MY TRIP, I LEARNED ABOUT THE END OF A WOMAN 'S STRUGGLE OF MANY YEARS WITH A TERMINAL ILLNESS. OH NO! THE DEATH OF A CHRISTIAN MOTHER FINALLY FREED FROM HER WHEELCHAIR. IN MY DAILY READING, I REVISITED A HELICOPTER'S CREW CHIEF IN VIETNAM, IMMOLATED IN A FEW, HORRIFYING MINUTES. OH NO! A SOLDIER WITNESS WAS HELPLESS TO PUT THE VICTIM OUT OF HIS MISERY HAVING FORGOTTEN TO CARRY HIS GUN.

AT EASTERTIDE - OUR MERCIFUL, LOVING LORD CALLED A SQUIRREL (IN A SECOND), A MOTHER (AFTER MANY YEARS) AND A SOLDIER (IN A FEW MINUTES) HOME.

BUT THE SOLDIER DIED 37 YEARS AGO YOU SAY. OH NO! WITH JESUS, HOMING CALLS KNOW NO CONSTRAINTS OF TIME OR SPACE. SUCH IS THE MYSTERY OF ETERNAL SPRING. LET US BE GLAD AND REJOICE!
