Always faithful

Marine dogs of WWII were always faithful to their trainers and their calling. What can be said about regular people in America today?  Ads on the radio have lines like "because the land never stops." The mass killer in Colorado had anger issues, was probably nuts, and  without any self-control, personal responsibility or respect for LIFE (how did this happen if he had parents?) should teach us a society something........something, please.
