What is meaning of life for a Frenchwoman?

What is meaning of life for a Frenchwoman?  Having lost a friend to the recent massacre at the hands of Islamist murderers, she regretted that her loss meant no more time to “share moments of culture and emotion.” Duh?  Life is obviously the here and now without a higher power here or hereafter. So sad!
