TO SOME MOTHERS
YESTERDAY, I TURNED AROUND, LOOKED DOWN AND THERE IT WAS. BE MY LOVE, MARIO LANZA'S 6-RECORD COLLECTION FROM 1968, WAITING TO BE PICKED UP. $5.00 WAS A CHEAP PRICE FOR A NOSTALGIC NOD TO GREAT MUSIC PAST. I KNOW I'M WORTH IT.
TODAY, HE LOOKED DOWN AND THERE IT LAY, SPARKLING IN THE SUN, RESTING STILL AFTER CENTURIES OF SEDIMENTARY EXISTENCE. MY LOVE PICKED UP THE DISTINCTIVE ROCK AND CARRIED IT HOME FOR US TO ENJOY. I KNOW I'M WORTH IT.
"GOD CAN'T BE ALWAYS EVERYWHERE; AND SO, INVENTED MOTHERS." (SIR EDWIN ARNOLD FROM HIS POEM MOTHERS, STANZA 6). YES, GOD CAN BE UBIQUITOUS AND SOMETIMES MOTHERS ARE NOT GOD'S PROXIES. BUT TO ALL THOSE MOTHERS WHO ARE WORTH IT, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.
WORTH IT AND NOT, I'M GRATEFUL TO BE REMEMBERED.
