A SPRING SONG

I SPIED A VIVID RED CARDINAL A-SINGING
ATOP BUDDING, BURNISHED MAPLE LIMBS.
HIS BUOYANT, FLASHY SONG - PROFUSE,
LOUDER THAN THE SPRING BREEZE.
COMPLEMENTARY, TO THE CLEAR BLUE SKY.
GIFTED - HE CANNOT LIE, HE'S NOT MAD,
HE CALLS OUT THE TRUTH OF HIS MALENESS,
UNAWARE OF THE SORROWFUL ICE-STORM
A-COMING TOMORROW.
