POLITICIAN OR STATESMAN?

A DEMOCRAT IS SILLY.
A LIBERAL IS SILLIER.
A LEFTIST IS SILLIEST.

MAY ANY OF THE ABOVE BE POLITICIANS? YES
MAY ANY OF THE ABOVE BE STATESMEN?
THIS IS MY QUESTION OF THE DAY, ESPECIALLY WHEN OUR PRESIDENT AND SECRETARY OF STATE ARE ABROAD DOING STATESMAN-LIKE VISITS.

A POLITICIAN'S VISION IS RESTRICTED TO WHAT HE SEES AS GOOD FOR HIMSELF.
A STATESMAN'S VISION CONSIDERS WHAT'S GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY IN THE LONGHAUL.
BOTH 'A LITTLE BIT OF ROCK AND ROLL' SELFISHNESS AND 'A LITTLE BIT OF COUNTRY' UNSELFISHNESS CAN RESIDE IN A PRESIDENT OF THE U.S, BUT THE JUDGMENT OF TIME IS NEEDED TO SEPARATE THE POLITICAN FROM THE STATESMAN.

GIVE ME A ROOSEVELT - DEM... SILLY POLITICIAN; STATESMAN
GIVE ME A TRUMAN - DEM...STATESMAN
GIVE ME AN EISENHOWER - REP...STATESMAN
GIVE ME A KENNEDY - DEM...SILLIER POLITICIAN
GIVE ME A NIXON - REP...POLITICIAN; STATESMAN
GIVE ME A FORD - REP...STATESMAN
GIVE ME A CARTER - DEM...SILLIEST POLITICIAN
GIVE ME A REAGAN - REP...STATESMAN
GIVE ME A G. H. BUSH - REP...POLITICIAN
GIVE ME A CLINTON - DEM..SILLIER POLITICIAN
GIVE ME A G. W. BUSH - REP...STATESMAN
GIVE ME A VOTE FOR THE PAST 65 YEARS OF MY TERM ON EARTH; GIVE ME A CLUE TO THE FUTURE.

NOW IT'S YOUR TURN TO VOTE.
