Homeless Search

At what cost does it become worth it for people to go forth to find the ‘homeless’? Yesterday in Chillicothe the search for the homeless, defined by the government as a person 15 consecutive days without a place to sleep at least 4 times a year, netted 8. ( The storm cut short the search.) Is not America home to 300 million people? Are 8 or 80 real? Shelters already abound. Free food distribution centers range all over our American cities. Remember the definition of ‘homeless’ fits many of my loving neighbors’ kids who do not know whose house they will sleep on one night or other. It fits travelers stranded in airport terminals. It fits women sleeping over with ‘friends.’ It fits politicians constantly flying back and forth from residences and entertainers between gigs. Yes, it usually fits 8 or 80, the pathetic, the mentally ill, chronic alcoholic or drug addict. But is not government’s nannyism just as pathetic?
